A Moderate Viewpoint In a Conservative Desert

I have been a “political animal” for as long as I can remember. I grew up with my parents home being a polling place and clearly remember the preliminary ballot tabulation in the 1960 Kennedy/Nixon election. I have voted in every election since I was 18. That’s 51 years. I listen to “talk radio”. Here in our Coachella Valley desert, it seems like there is only Conservative “talk”. Recently, I was listening to Mark Levin who is the heir apparent in talk radio to the late Rush Limbaugh. The first time I heard him was someone screaming on the radio, calling people names from the 3rd grade schoolyard. I realized he was talking about Democrats. In fact he has written a book that he has been hawking for over a year now called “The Democrat Party Hates America”. In it he twists history, tells lies, and finds facts to support his repugnant theme. I am a Democrat . . . and I DON’T hate America. I thought our Moderate majority in the desert should learn about what is being said and how the “conservative” talk radio of today is characterizing YOU. I am a moderate Democrat, I am not for the most part what is called a “progressive”. I support open discussion and disagreement without being disagreeable and calling each other names. Over the years, the only time I find I agree with someone 100% of the time is when I am looking in the mirror . . . and even then . . . .

So, I will be periodically checking in. Letting you know what you are being called by the increasing ugly conservative talk radio minions so we know what is being said and what we moderates are up against. Because I think that if we don’t find a moderate middle where we find solutions instead of calling each other names, our country . . . and our desert will get nothing done.
