Thoughts on THE Debate

So, there was this debate between Trump and Biden. Without a doubt, Biden’s performance was troubling. In fact, that’s all we’ve been hearing on the media since the debate. A week of speculation, who will run?, who will be Kamala’s running mate . . . essentially a 24 hour handwringing fest. I too have been troubled, and am vexed as to what can be done about it.

What we aren’t hearing is anything resembling a real critique of Trump’s performance. Most every answer was either a lie, a bloviation of something he sees as an accomplishment, or a vivid display of his narcissism. He lied about everything from abortion policy to foreign affairs. He stated TWICE that the war in Afghanistan would be over if he was elected and before he was sworn in. HOW?? He said the Democrats abortion policy is to “kill the baby”. There is NO proof of that and in fact, so-called “late term” abortions make up less than 1% of all abortions. To hear Trump (and other Republican commentators talk) you’d think it is commonplace. Far Right commentator Mark Levin tells a moving lie about it. Trump makes the most outrageous, unsupported statements and the media says nothing and asks nothing. He said EVERY legal expert was supporting the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. Trump stated he had the best economy in US history. (This is the definition of narcissistic bloviation) Trump ranted, raved, gave non-sensical answers, avoided answering many questions, and did his usual victimhood act.

I’m sure you had your own “favorite” lies. There were just so many to choose from. In fact you could outline all of Trump’s lies if you actually had a transcript of the entire 90 minute debate. Just point to every time Trump opens his mouth.

Was Trump’s performance worthy of a President of all the United States? I don’t think so. I also don’t think that the media’s complete focus on Joe Biden is worthy of a media that is seeking to inform the American public. I for one am disgusted.
