What is the “Conservative Desert”? What might be behind all this Conservative Talk Radio?

When I first started writing this blog, I titled it as a Moderate Viewpoint in a Conservative Desert. I wasn’t referring to a political viewpoint. From what I can tell, there is simply no voice for Moderates or Progressives in the Coachella Valley. K-News has the corner on local Conservative Talk Radio beginning with their “wanna be” morning show that was previously hosted by Bill Feingold. Then there is 18 hours of back-to-back Conservative Talk: Dan Bongino, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Markley vanKamp and Robbins, Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh. From what I can tell, the only Moderate/Progressive talk is a blog post by Elle K on the website of the local desert Democratic Party.

In fact, the most recent statistic I could find is that nationally, about 90% of talk radio is Conservative. The early 2000’s saw a slight surge in Progressive Talk with “Air America” which has essentially become MSNBC. There are a few Progressive Talk Radio Shows in the US.

Why I wondered is there so much Conservative Talk and how does it fit within the Conservative Movement. Now, I am hoping you don’t think I am going all “Conspiracy Theory” on you, but I have my thoughts:

There exists a movement called the Seven Mountains Mandate. This has been defined as a movement within Pentecostal and evangelical Christianity that seeks Christian Dominion over government, religion, family, business, education, arts/entertainment, and media. Yup, that’s seven Mountains. And, the rise of the Seven Mountains Mandate seems to coincide with the rise of Conservative Talk Radio. Oh, and so you don’t think I am going all “Conspiracy Theory” on you, some of the recognized adherents to the Seven Mountains Mandate are House Speaker, Mike Johnson, Lauren Boebert, Michelle Bachman, Rafael Cruz (Sen. Ted Cruz’ father) and Paula White who was the chair of President Trump’s evangelical advisory board and delivered the invocation at his inauguration.

Conservative Talk is Media. Talk show host Mark Levin continually decries the established media (CNN, NBC, CBS, etc) as having a liberal bias and beholden to the Democrat party, Marxism and Communism which he pretty much equates with each other. Yet Levin has his widely broadcast radio show, two Fox TV Shows, a subscription television network called Blaze TV (merged with Glenn Beck’s television network) podcasts, and several books. He is by himself a media mogul. So my theory is that the proliferation of Conservative Talk is a part of the Seven Mountains Mandate to bring about domination over the media. It also helps explain the attacks on education, arts/entertainment, and the overlap with Project 2025.

There is another cog to this wheel. It is called the Council for National Policy. It is a conservative umbrella organization facilitating networking, exchange of ideas and coalitions among Republican and conservative activists. The New York Times referred to it as “a little-known club of a few hundred of the most powerful conservatives in the country” It, along with many of the growing conservative movement has its roots in the 1980’s. It’s membership is secretive, and there is known overlap with The Heritage Foundation, Oliver North, Steve Bannon and other equally recognizable names.

I really didn’t know about the inter-twining’s of the Conservative Movement or their considerable organization. Did you? I think we should begin talking about it and exchanging our own thoughts about this very organized movement . . . before the seven mountains fall.

Tell me what you think . . .
